While taking private drum lessons in his youth, Javo studied Symphonic Percussion under the tutelage of Maestro Armando Zerquera at the Escuela Ollin Yoliztli, Mexico City as well as piano composition and arrangements. He also attended Jazz workshops with his brothers (who are sought after musicians/M.D.s in Latin America).
He then went on master a number of styles including Classical, Progressive Rock and Jazz before exploding onto the Latin Pop scene. After exceeding all professional expectations.
Javo is currently is focused on his new album called "Against the Nullah", Jazz Fusion, touring with a few Singers and Producing all kind of generes in Los Angeles Ca.
Javo Barrera has toured great stages in Mexico such as: Auditorio Nacional, National Auditorium Lunario, Arena México, Monterrey Arena, Telmex Theater, among others. Worldwide in the US like: Madison Square Garden and Radio City Music Hall (NYC), Greek Theater, Dolby Theater and House Of Blues, American Airlines Arena (Miami), The Fillmore Silver Spring (Washington, DC ), Luna Park (Buenos Aires), Coliseum of Puerto Rico, La Romana (Dominican Republic) La Carlota (Venezuela), among others. On the European continent, he has set foot on such as: Plaza de Toros "Las Ventas" (Madrid), The Palao de la Música (Barcelona), TROXY London (London), to name a few.
Over the years, Javo has been secured as Musical Director for some of the most highly acclaimed Latin-Pop artists such as:
Natalia Jimenez, La Quinta Estación, Cristian Castro, Carlos Baute, Emmanuel and Alejandra Guzman, to name a few.
